Finishing touches on state-of-the-art hospital

LOCAL REAL ESTATE NEWS

Tweed Valley Hospital

The new Tweed Valley Hospital is in its final stages of construction and is due to open to patients next year following the completion of operational commissioning activities by the Northern NSW Local Health District.

“With around 200 workers on site each day (down from 500 workers at the peak of construction), the focus is now on the finishing touches and completing certification processes, as well as installing the artworks in the main hospital building, asphalting roads and landscaping works across the 19.4-hectare site,” Northern NSW Local Health District Chief Executive Tracey Maisey said.

The $723.3 million regional referral hospital is one of the largest ever investments in public health infrastructure for regional New South Wales and will provide new and expanded services for the Tweed Valley, including two new services for the region – interventional cardiology and radiotherapy.

A Learning, Development and Research Centre will be collocated on the hospital campus, providing health staff, researchers and educators with state-of-the-art training and research spaces as well as a home for the Northern NSW Academic Health Alliance (comprising Griffith University, Southern Cross University, Bond University and TAFE NSW) to deliver an integrated clinical training and collaborative research hub.
