Meet Ben Wightley from CommBank

IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Coastal Buys talks to CommBank Mobile Home Lending Specialist Ben Wightley about the current market, what the Tweed Coast offers buyers, and his connections to the local community.

How long have you worked in the financial services industry?

I’ve been working in the financial industry for 15 years. I previously worked in trades and other industries, but due to the pressures of labour intensive work on the body, I decided to give this a go and have loved it ever since. It’s a very rewarding job helping people achieve their dreams of home ownership or investment.

What services do you offer as a  Home Lending Specialist?

As a Commbank Home Lending Specialist, I am here to make your home buying journey seamless.
I can visit you at a time and place that suits you and will be with you for every step of the home buying journey, providing expert advice up front, tailored rates and discounts, market news and insights, and ongoing expert lending support (terms and conditions apply).

What do you enjoy most about working in this industry?

The most rewarding part of working in this job is seeing people’s dreams come true and meeting new people. Helping someone into their first home is such a great feeling and getting to experience their emotions of happiness is really amazing.

Can you tell us about your connection to the local community?

I have been in the local area for 35 years, and went to school and raised my three children in the area. I have been involved in many fundraising activities over the years, coaching my children’s sporting teams, and enjoying time with family living in the area. I am regularly at the beach or you can find me on top of one of the mountains or on a bush trail. This is home for me and I have so many great friends and connections in the community, I wouldn’t be anywhere else.

“The most rewarding part of working in this job is seeing people’s dreams come true and meeting new people.”

What are your views on the current local market?

We’ve seen a massive influx of people moving up from Sydney and Melbourne, which has pushed property prices up considerably. It’s a difficult one to read at the moment, though overall, I think it’s very strong for people already in the market, and it will get busy from now until the end of the year with spring usually being a popular time for people to be looking at buying.

What do you believe this area offers buyers?

The Tweed offers buyers multiple different options from units to acreage properties, with a brand new hospital, access to a major airport in Coolangatta, and a major city only an hour and a half away in Brisbane. It’s a great location for people looking for a relaxed lifestyle.

What are your favourite things to see and do in the Tweed Coast region?

My favourite things are getting to the beach and getting in the water. Hiking out in the mountains and day tripping out to the multiple little villages in the area which all offer something unique. It’s a magical area with the blend of coast and country, relaxed lifestyle and beautiful weather.
